i was thinking about drilling holes into my stock h pipe in order to possibly make it louder. You think it would change the sound in a good way? if not I am getting a new off-road x-pipe installed soon. has anyone ever tried this?

it wont sound good at all.

it will more than likely make you hate driving your car from the sound. probably sound like an exhaust leak

not to mention a loss of power. get an o/r xpipe and some weld in mufflers if you want to do it cheaply.

It will make it sound like an old Volkswagon Bug. I was missing my o2 sensor for a few days, and it was the most horrid sound ever!

try one of the sponers.

Yes they are cheep, they are basically a Y, one end goes to the rest of the exhaust the other stright to the outside. It by passes the rest of the exhaust after it.

Provided you use it to bypass a restriction in the exhaust you'll see a HP gain. If you don't have a restriction after the cutout you'll see zilch'o gain in HP just one heck of a lot of noise.

A well chosen cat back and mid with suitable CATS will flow enough not to restrict the engine, in this instance a cutout would do nothing in HP terms.

you would be better off just unbolting the mufflers if youre into nasty sounds.

dont screw around with the factory hpipe you may need it again someday.
