In the future I will be putting AFR 165's heads, headers, and a performer intake manifold, I know the computers in 94 and 95 Gt's suck, so I plan to get a tune, but until I get the money for it I will have to drive my car without the tune. Should I expect drivability issues with these mods with no tune? Any knocking, surging or any of that *****. It a daily driver so I need it to run perfect. Also what should I set the fuel pressure and timing at. Thanks guys.

Tons of posts have been done in these 94-95 forums about this very subject.
Some of them have been quite detailed
so
I'll hit just the basics for you in this reply

The pcm in our cars is quite different from the Fox pcm
and
in some areas of its programming, it has more potential

Most will tell you the cam is what gives the pcm fits.
While that can be true
its only part of the reason
you could suffer with drivability issues when you mod your Stang

Larger after market maf & inj's can really hose up your Stang as well

If you have issues with drivability ........
I'd not look at dizzy settings or fuel pressure
for your salvation from grief and frustration

With those mechanical methods, you just don't have a lot of options

When it comes to drivability issues ...........
a lot of it has to do with choice of combo parts

Where the problem lies is .........

If you pick parts to not freak the pcm .........
You leave power on the table

If you pick parts for max power production
You will definitely freak the pcm

Most of the time ... a tune is the solution for ..........
Maximum Power AND Maximum Drivability

Another frustrating thing about drivability issues

You can have two Stangs modded just about alike .........
Each one can act very differently when its all said and done

You most likely will have issues when you do the h/c/i mod thing

You may be able to find a bit of relief
with a higher idle in the range of 800 to 1000 rpm.

The tb air bleed screw can help produce a more stable idle as well

Invest some time and build your knowledge database
by reading past threads which contain excellent info
written by various members

Find your tuner first... tell him your budget and what you want out of the car.

Definitely save the extra $500 or so the tune will cost ontop of your engine build costs and do it all at once. Nothing worse than having to daily drive a broked-up car - not to mention unsafe... why chance it.

Do it right the first time and don't worry about redoing it.
