Same driveshaft, different bellhousing (SROD toploader bellhousing), modified or AOD crossmember.
I have a Tremec 3550 and it's great - no problems. Just take it easy for the first 500 miles and shift it easy during break in and it will last longer than anything else on the car. Mine shifts smooth and fast, it never complains about any abuse I have given it.
if you get a tko, all you have to do is swap the yokes and your done. If you dont want to and have yet to buy an aluminum one, buy one for a 96 and bolt it right up
