Im driving my stang from PA to florida because im moving and i was wondering what i should do to the car and check for before ileave. The car has 88,000 origional miles. The oil pressure is at 50psi, Fluid always reads 160 when heated up. I have pullies and a full exausht on the car. I recently changed the plugs wires cap and rotor. Im gonna change the oil before i go. Any thing else i should be looking for?

Check/change all fluids in the car, along with checking and setting the tire pressure in all four tires along with the spare just in case. Bring a jug of water and maybe a qt of oil just in case. Its real hot here in the north east and even hotter down there. Otherwise I'd say as long as the car is up to par, get cruisin. Best of luck.

tire pressure, although im sure you thought of that and forgot to mention it.

as long as your engine never runs hot i think you should be ok. 2 years ago i drove my 5.0 to florida as well, from PA, and everything went great. then i had about 70K on her.

I did the drive from NY in November with 189,000 miles. I had my fingers crossed the whole way down.
Have you balanced the tires lately?
If I were you I would get a couple of cans of seafoam to add to the gas on the way down. I do my best gas mileage with 40psi in the front tires and 35psi in the rear.
You might want to fix the a/c, the humidity is enough to kill you.

Where in FL are you moving to?

your a/c might need a charge, just hit up a local pep boys for that.

also, it does help not to run it to rough, like jumping from 85 to 140, just try to take it a little easier then normal, even though it is tempting on some of those roads.

Like they already mentioned to you. Don't drive the car rough, maintain a 70mph speed. Check your tires very good, your fluids, serpentine belt and wipers. If you haven't change the oil in the differential, you may want to do that.

As a sugguestion: You could also run some fuel cleaner through the tank since you know that you will be on the road for an extended periord of time (BTW have you changed your fuel filter lately?)

If the system is just low on freon, but not completely discharged, you can add without evacuating the system. The downside is that they don't get low without there being a leak -- so even if you charge it, it will leak down again unless/until the leak is fixed.

I dont even think the system is low its just the pulley on the front of the pump is skrewed. I was gonna put the pump from my other car on but, Id have to let all of the r12 out anyway and i dont really understand the vacuming it out and adding oil part of the r134a conversion.
