is there a nice guide somewhere for changing ur clutch on the interweb somewhere for 96-98 gts ?

im having a real bitch of a time, I can't figure out howto disconnect my clutch cable, all i've done so far is disconnect the wires and remove my drive shaft.

my exhaust doesnt want to come off, I can't find an 18mm socket for my impact gun *screams*

Changing a clutch is pretty hard, I suggest you put it back together and take it to a shop...

Use a pry bar against the back of the clutch fork and pry forward, that will take the pressure of the cable so you can slip it out of grove on the clutch fork.

Go pick up a Haynes manuel. Worth the 15 bucks.

Have fun with that top starter bolt...

Changing and installing a clutch can be a PITB.If you are doing
it yourself than I would get a chiltons or haynes manuel it will help.
This is why when I replace my clutch I will be going to my mechanic.

i just keep running into stupid problems, mainly not having the right tools... i know once my exhaust is off getting the tranny out will be easy.. the thing is ****ing tiny lol

the only thign im worried about is getting the clutch cable disconnected... I have a haynes manual, and its a POS to me.

it says to disconnect the cable from the quadrant, it doesnt say how.. and when ur in a tiny ass space, ur not much for thinking.. just lots of swearing

Well I think 5.0's 4 ever had a good suggestion there, sounds like he knows about it

Personally I do not think I would attempt a clutch but I am just an amatuer hobbyist mechanic, not a pro like some of these guys...

Anyway, I have a 4R70W it has no third gear grind or clutch issues...

My mechanic buddy did mine and I just helped. I would not attempt it my self.

I was a huge PITA. The exhaust bolts were hard to get to, and the starter bolts were even harder to get.

Trying to get the tranny in/out by yourself is crazy.
Try to find a mechanicly inclined friend to come over and do most of the work.

When I changed mine on my 97 with my dad... we ran into mainly stupid stuff like not having the right tools. It took us about 4 hours to drop everything and be ready to go back in. After 67 miles later after it was installed and the machine shop didn't grind the flywheel right it only took us 45min - 1hr to get it all back out the second time.

what he said, won't be a easy thing to do though, the fork is hard to move
