Well I'm saving my car for the 1/4 mile next weekend so I didn't have much happening. A buddy with a 03 GTO 5.7 6spd convinced me to ride along to see if he could make it into the 8's.

He ran Trac-off and went 9.99 @72
Traction on 9.34@76
then 2 9.8's and one more 9.9

He "forced" me to the drivers seat, which I had never even sat in let alone driven the car. I drove it from staging about 30 ft and into the water box.
Remember shooting for something in the 8's:
Both runs with traction control off
First run
60ft 2.04
330 5.85
1/8 9.041
MPH 79.89

Second run
60ft 2.04
330 5.84
1/8 9.007
MPH 78.94

I gave up as the car was hot lapped 7 times. Anyway turned out a fun way to run a few more times and kill some time.

So your junkyard mobile woops up on GTOs. LOVELY!
And you're a descent driver

yeah the guys on TF said the "driver mod" was worth 4 tenths. As hard as the car pulls on the street I thought for sure I could get an 8.9 out of it though...maybe next time.

Looks like you might have been a double cheeseburger or chili-cheese dog away from 8.99

Nice driving by the way! When you dumped the clutch, did it seem to be just a tick slow to respond or didn't let out as fast as you thought it would? I drove an LS powered 6spd Camaro and it just seemed like that's what I was feeling.

Hell I only weigh 130 with steel toe shoes and they wouldn't let me eat until we left the track.

No this clutch was pretty responsive as I controlled it. The other thing is dumping the clutch wouldn't work at all. I had to be very gentle or smoke city.

LOL! You've got cool friends. They "force" you to drive a GTO, and in looking out for your best interests they starve you to keep unnecessary weight down.

I wasn't launching the Camaro with 60 ft. times in mind I did find out what the GS-C means on the factory Goodyears though. "Gigantic Smoke Cloud"

With those traps it looked like it was heatsoaked and as you know, lower 60s would have had you in the 8s no problem but with street tires and bad track prep that becomes hard! Nice times for never driving it before.

Yeah it could have used a good cool down. As I stated it was only getting 5-10 between runs and was already hot when I got to it.

Or maybe he got the year wrong...

GTO's and Cavi's look and run so much alike he very well could have confused them though
