dumb + first gear = 2 flat tires and some bushes

Yesterday was my birthday but it was not fun at all. I fixed the trans so I have first gear now. I was driven in town when a light was turning yellow SO I ran it and about 35 into a turn. Lets just say I was side ways in front of the other cars. It was a left hand turn so the back end came around on me so I turned the wheel that way to keep it going straight it then started going that way so I turned the wheel the othere way and she snaped around on me fast. I ended up hitting curb and some bushes when I hit the curb I thought I was going to flip because the right front hit and then the back and the car went on its side and came down and blew the left rear out.  I thought for sure I was going over I seen the Cowl hood just about on its side. I thought the motor would shut off because of the angle on the carb but it did not. I put a dent in the right front fender

you moron.. if your going to do stuff like that it out to a parking lot first and "learn" the car. from all that you may have just ruined rear-end.

And i really doubt the car would have rolled. its too low to roll from a 35mph on a curb. just don't test that out in an SUV or anything.
Anyway, good luck fixing your problems.

Yeah....take some time and learn these cars! I used an empty blacktop parking lot back in HS. Wait till it would rain and then spin the car end over end. The best total spins (not donuts but end over end) was 3. :D

We all learn from mistakes in life, just be thankful no one got hurt. Just imagine if you were driving a FWD car, you may not be around to post.

exatcly, my stang will take alot of turns faster than my dads vw will simply because the rear on his seems to come around alot quicker than the stangs

Yeah I feel sick at what I did. I know the cars limits now and will never do some thing that stupid again. I drove her home today with two new tires and she has a bit of a vibration coming from the right rear. I think I might have bent the rim because it has a big chunk missing out of it. I went under the car again and the starter is loose why does this keep happening. My starter keeps coming loose for some reason.

My starter keeps coming loose on my 65. Why I do not know.

I put a 512 lift RV cam in my A block (4 speed) which was actually smaller than the stock cam but had much more duration. So at 20 mph the light turned green. Second gear and on the floor, the posi took me across three lanes in smoke. The cam was removed the next day. Two wheels later I just cruise. Pushing 30 mpg and still have the 4bbl when I need it.

Race it or wreck it. 1960 technology does not compare to what is out there now.

Good luck!

Bent rim, hell, you may have a bent axle axle flange. You need to pull that wheel and drum off and jack it up to see if the flange is bent. I've seen vehicles hit curbs at less than 35 that have bent the flange before. Yellow means get ready to stop, not hauls your azz on thru before I turn red. I've had 2 friends on bikes get killed but morons that thought they could beat the yellow and couldn't even beat the red before the other way turns green. And I'm not sure you know the cars limits yet. I think it has a lot to do with video games now being so realistic. We had Pong when I was a kid and that was it. You think you know how to handle a car, but reality is a bit different than video fantasy. Living fast ain't so hot now, huh?
