Dumb butt here. Been driving stangs for 28 years. I picked up a 99 (35 fifth ann) last month. Very nice with a T-45.

I was parking it last night, barely engaged the clutch and slipped my stick out of first (sort of half way between first and nuetral). "GRINDdddddd" for about .4 sec. Immediatly put the clutch back down again. Could this have done any long term damage to my trany / first gear / syncro? It still goes into first fine, no problem . One more thing I should add... the clutch needs replacement and fully engaged takes full pedal (up) for full pressure.... but actually starts engaging about 1/4 pedeal. It was around 1/4 pedel when this happened.

Nah... just don't make a habit of it. The T45s are tough.

That makes me feel better. I've noticed this trany is more like a H/D Truck tranny. 45K miles

Yep... along with the shifter. If it doesn't have a short-throw on it, get the Steeda Triax. You'll be glad you did.

I've done it in 2nd and 3rd gear. More than 3 times each. It'll be fine

Try adjusting the clutch pedal and see if the clutch will engage higher. Push the pedal in and release then put your toe behind the pedal and pull up. It will adjust the slack in the cable and may help.

Its a hydrolic clutch... no cable. I was able to do that on my old T5 but not on this car.

Did you convert to hydraulic clutch? Because 99GT's have a cable
