Build Thread Dustys has a new friend

Man. The bathroom snow balled into back yard grading. That led to needing lots of dirt because if I do that then I need to grade around the house....and do a french drain. That led to dump truck loads of dirt being dropped in the driveway with only the mini excavator to spread. I have a Kubota at the farm to use but my F150 wont tow that and the equipment trailer the 100 miles on the highway. My v6 F150 also won't pull a loaded dump trailer with a workable load of dirt.

Soooo.... I bought a capable truck. Wild how this stuff snow balls.

So far I'm impressed. Guess I'll be towing Dusty to Ford Nationals at Carlisle PA this year. No reason not to at all.

Kids graduating high school this week. He's the last one. The wife has stuff to do on her 1986 mustang ( Scarlet Rose ) so might have some updates soon on her thread. Dusty is just hanging out. No new parts for him anytime soon.

This is the first summer in a very long time that I haven't driven Dusty to a show or meet. Haven't really driven it at all. I've got project block. Absolutely no motivation. Been so busy with a bunch of other stuff. We've got a little snot gobblin on its way...not ours but a grand- snot gobblin

A camper may be showing up in the driveway this month. Seems like life just keeps going by faster and faster.

I think when I order the new quarter windows my desire to work on Dusty may pick back up. Scarlet Rose is still sitting as well. I do drive both of them down behind the house, to the lake and back, every couple weeks. The parts are piling up for that one. Maybe I'll make the " Ol'Lady ' do some work on her car. If y'all dont hear from me again....ya know what happened :hide:

Mannn we bought a camper last summer and its a paradox. Its both the best money we've spent and the worst.

Best: We have been on adventures all over the state and its been great to just have our own space. It suits us perfectly and I love it for that.

BUT.

Worst: They are unequivocally the biggest piles of sh*t you can waste money on. If you're buying new, go STRAIGHT to the tire store and take the Chinese will-pops off in favor of some Goodyears. In a year, 3/5 of my tires failed. All of the jacks have failed and fortunately were fixed under warranty.
Assuming you go into it knowing what you're buying, you cant be disappointed. Enjoy!

Edit: airbags on the F250 are a must.

All of that ^^^

They are all land boats. The tires are a must do. The one we really want comes with goodyear assurance tires. I've known a bunch of people woth all sorts of issues. This one has full composite walls ( no wood ) and real wood cabinet doors. Also, has rack and pinion slide. Airbags are a huge must on these f250 trucks. They sag so bad but they rise great. They will be added shortly.

If you’ve got the time (and want to save a few bucks) I bet you could get that engine bay looking good with a brush and some soap suds. If you rinse with distilled water you can let it air-dry without spots.

I don't know what's going on.

There was a plan (don't recall what it was) and I posted some cool stuff and there were trucks and tools scattered everywhere, small cartoon mammals with baked goods and now the engine is missing.

So...... that.

Made a little money this weekend and have the ability to order some parts. Here's my dilemma...

This is the current view of my crime scene. Do I -

A) powerwash it and clean it up with a good scrub, drop the motor in and go
B) Strip everything out of the engine bay, clean it and hit it with a coat of single stage electric red to match the body. Spend $440 on a K member and make it presentable.

The catch is all of the engine parts are at the powder coater so I kinda feel obligated to make the engine bay nice.

Speaking of powder coating, I got my intake plaque back:

This will match my motorsport valve covers. Everything will be dark grey and the inset letters will be dark red, similar to the body color.
I Vote for B. And maybe paint t he bay a color that compliments the powder coating-and…….. You forgot to update your thread lol

Slap that junk together with a good scrubbing and drive it....
Or make it all shiny and new looking and spend your time keeping it clean, shiny and new looking. :kmcoff:

All of you just let me post in someone else's build thread and nobody said a word. LOL
@Noobz347 can you clean up the rest of my mess?

Dusty and Scarlet got another friend. The wife has yet to name it. I think this is the longest I've gone withought updating projects here. There has been nothing new done to the cars. They haven't even been washed. We'll get back to them eventually.

this is a Rockwood 2325MBR. Very nice quality and a great couples camper for us. The truck pulls it perfectly. I wanted to buy a Class C to drag Dusty or Scarlet to events but it wasnt feasible. It would sit unless being used and would have to drag a car behind it all the time.
The prices were through the roof. The present combo was 40k less and we get a capable truck.

I've been working on a bunch of restoration and performance jobs for customers. Might get some of our car stuff done over the winter
