Yes there is....and enough crap to build another set up.

I'm really thinking about ditching the turbo part of this build. Decisions, decisions. The motor alone should put out around 400hp. Not the first time I wasted thousands of dollars....I bought a Chevy once. Lol

If this thing would idle on its own I might have a change of heart...but right now I want to take a hammer to all this crap...and I'm not talking @Davedacarpainter hammering.

I assume you're trying to get this thing to idle on the megasquirt. If so and you cannot get it to idle then just send me a PM and we can talk over the phone. A lot of your inconsistency with starts has everything to do with your startup settings such as cranking speed and whether or not you alternate injector firing when you have large injectors in the engine it will start easier if you skip every other pulse. A half hour on the phone with me and I guarantee you we can get it to idle and more

*wifi won't work on my tuning laptop so over the phone is the only option I have right now.....

I'm ashamed to say.... I posted my mustang and trailer on CL. Deleted the post because I just can't bring myself to do it.

There's a lot of pressure to get this thing running. I feel like I'm in over my head. This car has me completely mentally drained right now.

I can go efi long tubes....or carbed. The fact is I have so much experience in those realms this car would be running in a matter of hours. Going turbo and standalone is a whole different beast. I see why people drop these projects like hot potatoes. I've got a lot of respect for you guys that have done it successfully.

This thing is kicking my butt. I work on supercharged Benz's ....turboed Audi's...all of the late model crap. I'm telling you that this is way more complicated than it should be for me.
Its got me questioning a lot of things about myself. Gosh this stage is rough. I'll keep chipping at it for you guys. If it wasn't for this forum and all the folks that are pushing for this project to be done this car would be being dragged up the road behind someone else's tow rig....

Seriously PM me with your number I will call you on Sunday let me know what time and we'll spend a hour or so working on your tune. Once the settings are set correctly and adjusted things will start to fall in the line. Don't bail out yet just because it's too difficult once I show you some things the light bulb will go off

Even when my lightbulb goes on sometimes its dim as hell. I need to upgrade to LED brain lighting. [emoji106]

I feel ya. I believe that If I had to do it all over again,..there'd be a 650 CFM blowthru carb sitting on an equally custom built intake. I'd still use EDIS, and whatever is/was required to program, and control that ignition, but other than that......there'd be no "what tha hell" in my life requiring a third party, or that " what if I blow this btch up because I don't know what I'm doin?" in my life.
But like you I'm here in a similar boat,....albeit mine runs well enough to drive around the block. So,..you make your choice, put your head down and plow into it. You have three choices:

Bail.
Succeed.
Convert.

One of those you're gonna get killed on. One or the other two options you're gonna be glad you did what you needed to do that only stickin with it will give you,..and the other.........depends..if "simple but limited" appeals to you...buy a carb,..move the ECU over to ignition only, and you'll be running.
The " bail " one I'd get killed on.

If it blows up it gives me the excuse to build a 393.

I've had a few beers....and I'm "all in" again.

I'm sure I'll get it straightened out. I wish a could quit sometimes.... but its not in my nature.

I can't be that guy.....[emoji117] the one that had a turbo fox notchback and never got it right.

Whatever it takes I'm in it to win it. No turning back now. [emoji6]

This cars name is going to be changed if this crap keeps happening. Lol

Big thanks to a91what ... Steve is the man....and I don't feel so dumb. It took the better part of the day but Dusty runs on his own power. [emoji106]

Getting this thing to start and idle is the most ridiculous process I've ever been involved in. Steve has the patience of a Buddhist monk !

Even when my computer decided to spontaneously reboot in the middle of everything Steve didn't give up.

In the end I've got some interesting rattles going on and coolant pouring past my BMW sensor. Those are small compared to what a91what and the tuning gods have done.

Its running fellas ! [emoji12]

I'll be doing some inspections for the rattles....Teflon tape is going on the sensor as we speak. Almost there....almost.

My rattles were caused by my exhaust....that I forgot was loose under the car. Had a buddy stop by and I fired her up on jack stands. The plate for the cut out takes three bolts. That thing sounds horrible when its loose.

Gotta find the correct belt, tighten up the exhaust, get the down pipe covered up, spark plug heat shields, set timing, wire my fans to MS, do burnout, and burn out again. Lol

This list keeps getting shorter.

Since I couldn't find info on the great interwebs.... If you have an on3 kit for a fox and have ac and power steering you need a 790k6 belt. Takes a bit to push it over the alternator pulley.

I must say....this motor sounds pretty good. No bid yet....but its coming.

@a91what I found out my throttle body wasn't tight....when it started dripping on my valve cover. Lol Amazing you saw that while setting my car up from Florida. ( well you knew I had a air leak somewhere ).

Also, I found out I need a spacer behind my water pump pulley. Smh Always sumthin !

Tightened up the exhaust rattles...but the down pipe bumps against my bell housing a little. The hangers should fix that [emoji106]

Well...if I knew how to post a video you guys would be looking at my car blowing smoke right now.

I realized an issue I faced before while starting my car. The starter seems to hang for a split second after starting. This happened a few years ago with a different car- same starter.

Wiring the newer ( 93 and up ) starters to the solenoid can cause the starter to hang. I wired it with the starter motor wire and solenoid on the same post. This led to me using a starter button on that car.

With the starter staying engaged it will eat the starter gear and the flywheel teeth pretty quick.

Gotta check the good ole interweb to double check how I did this. [emoji53]

Edit; All these years and I've been doing it all wrong. I'll try switching the starter motor wire to the battery cable side tomorrow. Smh

Sounds Healthy lol. How much longer until a test drive? :-)
Not much longer...

I've got to get the exhaust completely squared away. The sensor I put in the water neck is still leaking. I think I ran the tap through too many times. The BMW fan switch is straight thread not pipe thread like American sensors. Long story short- an oring would probably seal it... I'll try that next. If it doesn't work I'll replace it or plug the hole.

I don't have tags yet so I've got to get that squared away. In Maryland, once I get the tags, I only have 30 days to get it through inspection....unless I get street rod tags. The first choice means I've got to get something that resembles a catalytic converter.

That means I haven't decided yet. Smh

Dusty is almost ready .... I can't believe it !

With the way your tune sits there is no way you could pass a smog.
Hahaha. In my county we don't have smog....they just look for a converter. I found a shell online for 40 bucks...just need to stick it to the downpipe or the pipe right after that.
