Yeah... just like a drug dealer. It's hard me on the floor for 3 days. Haven't gotten anything else done at the house. And I've spent money on all types of stuff to keep me here.... on the floor.

Finally, ready for primer....3 days later....well 2.5

This was a PITA... guess that's why I kept putting it off. I'm no body man so it takes me a long time.

I blocked the driver's side a little more....

Next up.....priming and more sanding....yay !!!

Now I'm going to sleep...

I hate blue tape....might as well use up the roll...

Don't know what I'm going to spray it with yet...

Thinking semi gloss black....maybe SEM trim black.

Still have to remove the fog light bezels and mask of the intercooler and piping.

Still don't know exactly what I'm going to do for side skirts....or... the area infront of the front wheels. I could make something out of fiberglass but that'll take some time.

Tell ya what.... I'll sleep on it and let you guys know in the am.

Nothing much tonight... Sanded the front moldings to prepare them for patching and priming. There are a couple small nicks that I want to fix.

Can't wait for this to part to be done. I really want to drive the car again soon. I've decided to do the front in SEM trim black. The side moldings and back bumper will get the same treatment. The hood and rear wing will wait until I can finish the body work on the rest of the car ( this winter ). Plan to have the car painted factory color by the end of March.

I bought one of these...

So I could chop it up...

To do this....

I was planning on using this plastic to make patterns so I could lay fiberglass to make end caps for this bumper. Quickly, I realized that this method isn't going to work. The plastic just isn't firm enough and is going to be a PITA.

I have two options left....I could make molds of the rear saleen bumper corners to fit on the cobra front...or... I could use foam to make a form to cast a mold out of.

The latter is my best option because it allows me to make it exactly the way I want to. However, it's more involved. I'm going to lay plastic wrap on the portion of the bumper by the wheel well. Then I'll shape it and smooth it.... cover with aluminum foil, Pam pan spray it, lay fiberglass, pull the mold off, coat inside with foil, spray, lay glass, release part, smooth part, install, bodywork, and paint. This is going to take some time.

Damn to HD and grabbed some spray foam... raided the cabinet for some foil and did this...

Sprayed foam and this happened...

.... so far this looks like a huge failure... and the foam is nasty to deal with.

The 12 year old was right...I used too much the first time. It's been a long time since I used spray foam. I used to use it way back in the days to make body kits. Back then we left it on and covered it with a horrendous amount of body filler.

Here's the results so far...

I'm sanding it with 60 grit sand paper and using a steak knife to cut down high spots.

Once this is shaped I'll lay some filler. After that I'll lay some Pam coated aluminum over it and glass up a mold. This should be interesting.

The bondo is spread all over this thing. Sometimes I wish I was young and dumb again. It would be so easy to just smooth this out, prime it, and paint it. The older experienced me says that it would cause the corner to crack at the blend point.... making the bumper look like pure tish in a few weeks to months.

Pulled the corner of for some filler work... this was last night. I was out of town all day today.

Hopefully i'll get some time to work on it this week.

Got a little further along. My whole garage is full of body filler dust. I may search for another ( cleaner ) way to make these end caps.

I think im going to modify the front edge to turn more towards the front and bottom of the car. I don't really like that round edge at the bottom.

I started working on the driver's side ( now that I almost know what I'm doing ). Hope to get all the foam sprayed so I can start shaping it tomorrow.

I've made up my mind that I will make the side skirts and " stylish " fender flares. The flares I plan to make will go around the complete wheel opening. I just don't like the look of flares that start and end at the molding. That will be a project for the winter or next year.

I want to do some more bodywork. Also decided to paint the front and rear cabernet red 2H ( the factory color ). The moldings will be sem trim black...along with the fog light bezels. Wing will probably stay black along with the hood for a while. Found this company that has good reviews.

This seems like a decent kit for about 100 buckaroos. What do ya think @Davedacarpainter ? Or anyone else that would give some input on this situation.

This process would go a little better if I had a way to stick the foil to the car. I wouldn't want to use 3m spray adhesive because it seems like a pita to remove before painting. Almost thought about spreading honey on it.... but that may jack something up. I'd need something that dissolves with water and doesn't leave residue or mess with plastic or painted surfaces.

I'm on version 2.1 on the driver's side. The first attempt pulled the foil away from the body and didn't look usable without working the back of the mold. Didn't want to do that so....
