Hey guys, I'm trying to dye my rear seat, cuz the previous owner of my 'stang decided to use Krylon to change the interior to black from black/grey- they went over everything. Carpet, leather seats, everything. Didn't bother to mask anything off either- DANG this is gonna be tough.
Anyway, I got front leathers from a '96 GT- black, power, etc. which I like, cuz mine were really cracking/duct taped together. I've also replaced the carpet, and will attempt a new vinyl top soon enough, along with re-dying the interior black, the correct way this time.
The only issue I now have is the back seat. It is cloth, probably cuz the leather one self-destructed, and that one was cheap- but I would like to dye it black. The right way. I tried with some RIT, but most of it washed right out when I was done. Now it just looks bad. Maybe I need a couple applications of RIT? Is there an automotive seat dye I could use for fabric? I need it to be water-fast, since it is a convertible, ya never know.
This is temporary until I can find it in the budget to get a leather replacement..
