So how hard is it to get a 01 cobra to 300rwhp without using nitrous or a blower? I am about to start buying mods and trying to figure out where I want to start. I want 300rwhp. That is my goal. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

Also forgot to mention I am not a drag racer. I go to the track once in a while but 4.10 gears really aren't something I am too interested in.

Dr gas o/r x, magnaflows, SCT tune and that should put you close to it.

I am not a fan of U/D pulleys on the 4V as it can create issues.

What sort of issues can UDPs cause? I have not heard anything regarding that before...

The UDP's I put on my 86 GT slowed my alternator down so much that at idle the battery was not charging enough if I ran any accessorys or the lights. Once moving and off idle the engine was spinning the alternator enough to charge. I never got stranded if that makes a point or not, but I was real conscious of that being a possibility.

As for your '01 Cobra making 300RWHP without a blower, that should not be a problem. My '96 Cobra made 265RWHP with just a C&L meter added and nothing else. So some simple bolt ons and a tune should easily get your car to 300. Add a blower to that and WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

4.10's or lower (numerically higher) should be a given on these cars...they make them that much more fun to drive...makes them feel like they have 50hp+ more than the stock gears...Don't need to be a drag racer to put 4.10's in there...they need to be the factory gear...

I have 4.56's and they are amazingly fun even on the street...

Some shops/guys have noticed oil cavitations at high rpms and issues with the balancersfrom these. Now I am not talking about your no name shops, but I know Al @ Boss330 Racing has seen it first hand.

most 4v's i have helped dyno with cai, long tubes, o/r mid pipes, cat back, and some kind of tune, SCT or diablo averaged 315-330rwhp. all you need are the basic bolt ons.

full exhaust (longtubes, o/r midpipe, catback) and u/d pullies should do it. i've had pulleys on my car for 4 yrs and never had a problem.

Al papito owner of Boss330 Racing who builds alot of the NMRA F/S motors and built Bob Cosby's has noticed that with the U/D pulleys from some of the motors he has seen that they cause oil cavitaions(air in the oil) at high rpms. Also they cause the balance issues with the balancer on the motor. Not everyone sees this, but he has seen enough that some dont want to risk the 5-8 rwhp.
