I took my '01 Saleen(supercharged) to the dyno on friday to get some baseline #s before I start bolting on a few parts. The first run the car put down 264hp and 323ft/lbs and the second came in at 255hp and 313ft/lbs. Needless to say I am very dissapointed with hp #s that it put down. The only mods done to the car are 3.73 gears and a Chicane RIPP kit. The car is a 5 speed and the air intake temp was at 78 degrees at the time of the pulls. My A/F was going way rich starting at around 3500 RPM. My question is; what would be causing the car to run so rich and how can I fix it? Also, by fixing the A/F, will this get me to around the 300rwhp mark where I should be?

Put a pulley on it and get it tuned, you will be much more happy

The powerflash tune tends to run really rich from the factory. If you get the 66mm pulley from Chicane and get a decent dynotune that should get you over the 300 rwhp mark.I would also upgrade your fuel pump as well.

The first time I put my stock '01 SC on the dyno I had similar numbers at around 5500 ft. above sea-level. My car was also running way rich like yours. After a Chicane pulley, Chicane RIPP Kit, a SVT Focus pump, and a series of tunes, I jumped up to around 350 rwhp.

I have all of the above sitting in the garage waiting to be put on the car, along with a 75mm throttle body. Did you fix the problem first before installing your parts or just install them. Did you change out the injectors to 42lbs or stay with the 30's? Also, did you do a dyno tune or mail order tune?

I tuned my car after each modification. Because there wasn't anyone in Albuquerque at the time doing SCT programming, I would go do some runs at the dyno shop, and then immediately e-mail my results to JMS Chip & Performance. They would then create a new program and e-mail it back to me. I would then do another dyno run. We did this for quite some time before we had it nailed. I have to say that that is definitely not the best way to get your car tuned, though, I did have good results.

I never upgraded my injectors. With all the mods I had, I was running at 97% flow capacity of the Saleen installed injectors.

I should say, though, that one modification you can do to get a substantial gain in HP is to port/polish your blower. The cost will range from $350-$450, but will gain you anywhere from 20-40 HP. At this point,, you'll be wanting to consider upgrading your injectors to the 42 #'ers.

Wow, I did not know it was common for them to be that bad out of the box. When I bought my car new, I took it to a local shop to get a baseline. I pulled 223/235 on a Mustang dyno. Car is a 2003 and stock was N/A.

One other thing to check is if the throttle body is opening fully under WOT. Mine was shy of true WOT by about fifteen degrees. This happened so long ago, I don’t recall the exact numbers but after the throttle cable was adjusted, I gained 15-20 RWHP to get me up to a respectable stock figure.

Thanks, I will look into that. It won't matter much though because I have new 75mm Accufab TB that is going on this weekend.
