I recently installed 3.73 gears and an off-road pipe on my '01 N/A saleen with a superchip. It is true what they say, the gears really woke the car up, and the pipe makes the car sound soo much better. I have seen what people are putting down for their cars with superchargers, but I havent been able to find what people with their N/A saleens are doing. My car did 244hp and 286lb/ft. Does this sound right? Anyone else have their N/A dynoed?? Also, I do plan on supercharging it this winter, but does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do next in the meantime?? I talked to the guy who did the mods on my car and he said a plenum?? But I didnt know what that was. Anyways, thanx for your time and info.

Should have went with the 4.10's! haha, but as for your next mods, maybe a set of dr's, headers, intake (either JLT or Demolet)...

Dont do anything else. Save your money and buy a supercharger. Youll never regret it.

Joe is right.

Don't do anything else and just save up for a blower. What ever you do , just spend some time browsing the threads on superchargers. That way based on what kind of power you want to make you can choose your blower and not waste money on the wrong blower.

If you want to stay Saleen, and are looking for around 400 rwhp the Series IV will do.
If you want to stay Saleen and are looking for upwards of 500-600. ( definitely forged bottom end time) then get the Saleen series V.
If you don't care about adding non Saleen parts go with the Kenne Bell 1.7 or 2.2.
You could always go with a centri blower also and save a lot of money.
Like I said do your homework.
Your 244 rwhp is right on for the Superchip and O/R pipe. Your gains won't be as noticeable as your gears were by adding a throttle body, plenum and such. If you plan on getting blown by the end of the year 3.73's are perfect if you ask me. Anything else and you won't have any traction anyway.
If you are dying to do something else before your blower, do a quality CAI and get rid of that lousy Saleen/Hurst shifter. Go Pro 5.0 or Steeda Tri Ax. You will feel the difference there.
Good luck.

Alright, thanks for the info. I forgot to mention, the car had a CAI on it when I bought the car. I dont know which one was put on though. It does go into the fenderwall. Anyone have a clue? I was planning on forging the bottom end before I did the supercharger or at the same time this winter. I woldnt mind keeping everything saleen and 500-600 hp from the series 5 sounds pretty good. I was looking at the KB and the guy doing my mods likes the vortech. He said a customers car he did with the vortech with intercooler was putting 430 at the rear wheels. Out of curiosity, how much would it cost to forge the bottom end?? Maybe Ill do that as my next mod and get it out of the way. Thanks for your time

Look to spend from $3,000 and up on a decent forged short block assembly and that's un-installed unless you have a cherry picker and can do it yourself. You will save a ton of cash that way. You can re-use all of your stock accessories. Do searches on the forums for forged shortblock rotating assembly or forged bottom end and dependin on your location get some customer feedback from customers. Even start a thread on "how do you like" so and so's motors and so on. That way you go with someone who has experience and can build your motor to your specs.
Not to scare you but that extra 200 hp you are looking for will run $8,0000-$10,000 to do it right. That is motor+blower+ fuel upgrades+labor.

Good luck.

my s4 00gt made 380 and 380 ft pounds of torque with stock manifolds and stock cat back. The s4 can make 400hp to the wheels. and its reliable. All this kb talk i have only seen one with a ton of mods run 11.8 at like 115 and my car with hardly anything ran 11.9 at 114.8 so more hp means nothing i will still get you when i come off the line

I had mine dynoed a few weeks ago. My 02 S281 is bone stock N/A, the only option it had was 3:55 gears. It dynoed at 238 HP/278 TQ. I was thinking about doing the accufab plenum/throttle body combo with a tuneable induction CAI and predator tune. But if you have a off road x pipe and CAI and tune and it only added about 6 HP over my numbers, me spending about 1000 dollars on that stuff is definately not worth it, it would be a waste. I would rather save that cash into a supercharger fund and do that and get HUGE gains. Does anybody think that the plenum/TB combo and CAI and tune will give me more than a few ponies that would be worth the $1000 price tag?

$8K is bare minimum if you installed everything yourself. I still haven't tuned mine and I am over $10K. They want 200-500 miles on it before they will tune. I have about 50 more miles to go.

Whosdady,

The more miles the better. Don't get too impatient. It'll do better in the long run if you get 1,000 city miles on it.
