I was pretty set on going with a Magnaflow catback, but Summit (and other stores) are having rebates on dynomax mufflers which makes them really cheap ($15 for super turbos and $20 for ultra flo). I'm looking for a sound really mellow (cops in So Cal don't mess around) similar to the Magnaflow, but livens up at WOT. How are the dynomax and which version do you prefer?

tech part: for my stock pipes, will "2.5 inch offset inlet/center outlet, 19 inch long" be the correct size?

Thanks

I've got Dynomax Ultraflows welded into my stock catback with an offroad X-pipe (unsure of brand). To me it sounds okay inside the car, but outside it sounds wicked. I like it because its different than what everyone has. It's not obnoxiously loud or too quiet; just right I think. Ultraflows now come in stainless too, I wish they were around when I bought mine. Hope this helps!

I'll reply back with a soundclip if I get around to it.

Im actually in your same situation. I think I am just going to go for the Magnapack Catback though. 2.5" Mandrel bent piping, and 3.5" tips sound to good to pass up to me.

But then again, I could just get the 2.25" mufflers, and some nice tips for a cheaper price, but im sure you will get a LITTLE power gain from the catback, although I hear you will lose power from the Magnapacks because of the way the resonators are shaped.

You want offset/offset to fit properly.

Well, either or on the 2.25 or 2.5. Any muffler shop can put 2.5 mufflers into a 2.25 system...no biggie there. Stock is 2.25, but many, if not most, opt for the slightly larger 2.5's.

So which one would I go with there. I want my exhaust to sound similiar to the Magnapacks if at all possible. And the cheapest price/nicest sounding of course

I don't know if the sound is comparable to the Magnaflows, but I really like the Super Turbos on my gf's 96 GT. They are cheaper, but the sound is not obnoxious at all. At idle its mellow sounding, and real quiet in the car. At WOT they sound great, and you can get them to pop pretty good when reving the car. They are real different from things like Flowmasters, so maybe thats why I like them (not that I don't like the Flows!). Plus cheaper is always better! Save the money on the exhaust by going with Dynomax and put the money you saved into something else!
