I recently did a light spray and cleaning on my engine compartment with a light soapy mix followed by a clear water spray down afterwards. Immediately afterward, I encountered an odd condition.
My instrument cluster Water Temp gauge now shoots up to 210 while my BE datalogging ECT slowly climbs to 190, where it typically is.
The instrument cluster gauge is definitely reflecting a higher temperature than normal. It's up over 200 degrees within 1-2 minutes...not realistic.
I had thought that the engine temperature sensor in the lower intake passenger side would be reflected on my cluster -AND- datalogger, but they are clearly different.
Any ideas on why these 2 gauges might differ so much where the BE datalogger appears to be accurate.
FYI - instrument cluster gauge has fewer than 1,000 miles on it... it's a quality autometer gauge.
TIA,
