If my ECT sensor is not working right, would my temperature guage still work ok? I am trying to get rid of some low RPM pinging. And have changed the IAT,cleaned the MAF,Checked the TPS voltage,Have my timing at stock 10*.This is my last thing to check is the ECT. Also have put on new o2's. I dont have any codes, and the car runs fine other than the dreaded pinging at low rpm's giong up hill.

Make sure the ECT is facing the correct direction. The sensor has to be in a position were it recieves all the air bluntly. If it is angled at all, the "U" housing around the tip will guard it from the air and give a bad signal. I hope you could make sence of that... www.50resto.com has them if you need a new one. They may be cheaper than the dealership.
