Had a 1406 for 10 years on my Chevelle, worked great, I think the throttle shafts got worn and it had a sketchy idle when I went to a stick shift, so I put on a 40 year old 1850 that works fine. The 1406 was stone reliable, but requires the Eddy specific tuning kit, and did not seem as crisp as the Holley 1850.

For the vacuum diagram, you will need to buy one, as there are lots of vacuum items on this vintage Ford. I have a 79, and it has all the orig vacuum parts still on it, adapted to a Holley 6004, for 30 years and I am still not sure what some of them do.
