I believe edlebrock and sullivan already make them. I wouldnt run that manifold unless your going balls out n/a or supercaching due to the short runners.
whats wrong with the stock plastic intake? there are plenty of 2v guys running around with over 500 hp with the stock intake. if you really need or want to upgrade try and find a bullitt intake or drop the cash on the trickflow.
The stock manifold has many benefits. First of all its plastic, which means less heat soak than metal. So you may gain power with an aluminum manifold when its cold, but imagine the power loss after you run your car for a while. It's cradled between the heads and block. Something like a p-51 or the edelbrock would be better than a regular aluminum type since it at least it is away from some of the heat. Secondly plastic allows for more design for power since it can be molded better than metal.
Edelbrock manifolds are similar to the 2v Reichard intakes. Short runners are good for top end power, but your engine has to be built for that high rpm. So all you would gain on a stock engine is a few hp around 5k rpm or so, but alot of power loss below that. You need things like ported heads, nasty cams, high compression, and headers to benefit from something like the edelbrock manifold.
If you really want an intake, get the trickflow and call it a day.
I'm trying to get one myself, but got a ways to go before I have that kind of cash. I still have the plastic crossover on my intake with 117k and I get a little worried on long trips.
As everyone else said this intake is for people swapping a 4.6 into a classic so they can throw a simple ignition system on it and carb and be done. It will also work nicely with a high RPM 2v set up but if you put it on a stock 2v you will not pick up any power and will more than likely lose low end power. I just got mine in for my other car but it's going to be revved over 7k.
Also just a note but the Edelbrock intake weighs 14lbs the same as the stock plastic intake with aluminum crossover. The plastic intake won't get as much heat soak if you drive it the car regularly but the aluminum intake is nice because it can be extruned/honed, ported and drilled and tapped for a direct port nitrou kit.
