What does code 67 mean?? . Manual lever sensor out of range?? What does this mean. Which sensor is problem? Also have code 31 which is the EGR sensor again. Replaced it 2 months ago and everything was fine. Now its on again--could it be the EGR valve itself??
That would be a part that is on a later model that has an electronically controlled transmission. AOD-E or 4R70W.
If you have later model, that is the sensor on the drivers side of the transmission. The gear shift cable connects to a lever that in turn turns a rod and that rod goes through the MLPS and into the trans to actuate the valve body.
It tells the PCM what gear the car is in, Park, rev, neutral, OD/3/2/1. Which is quite important to a solonoid shifted trans. It has probably taken a dump and needs to be replaced. Possibly a wire to it or its connector is damaged or off. Or, if you have had the sensor off, it may actually be out of adjustment!
Simple to do, put car in neutral, disconnect cable at trans, remove lever, remove sensor, make sure new sensor is on the neutral markings, I pout a dab of anti-sieze on the rod,and carefully and NOT moving/twisting the inner ring of the sensor, slide sensor onto rod and bolt on, replace lever and cable. Pull battery cable and let codes clear out.
Code 67 - clutch not depressed (5 speed) or car not in neutral or park (auto) or the A/C was on when you ran the test (it is supposed to be off). Possible neutral safety switch or wiring problem. You can generally ignore this code, since it has no effect on engine performance. The code will affect some of the engine running diagnostic tests the computer can do if requested.
CODE: 31 (KOEO) - EVP circuit below minimum voltage. Vref (5 volt reference voltage supplied by the computer) missing or broken wire or bad contact in circuit. Use a DVM to check for 5 volts on the orange/white wire. If it is missing, look for +5 volts at the orange/white wire on the TPS or MAP sensor located on the firewall near the center of the car. With the sensor removed from the EGR and still connected, press the plunger and watch the voltage change on the brown/lt green wire. Check for the same results on pin 27 on the computer.
code 67 simply means you ran the test with the car in neutral (or not in neutral) I forget. Run the test again after clearing the codes, then clear codes and re-test, this time either put the car in gear, or take it out of gear (opposite of first test). Code 67 will disappear with one of the tests. Long story short - its normal, nothing to worry about - no problem.
