They are not. The response rate isn't the same, calibrations are loose at best and they have a high failure rate.

Fake O2 sensors (read: cheap/low quality) are a big thing right now too.

@86HO5.0 At first, I think it was this way for me and currently other people that haven't studied their AF/R that first, how important that it is in the first place and second, that every little change that you make to your set-up affects it.
Almost 50 years ago, we used to think that HOLLEY carbs must run rich. That it is their nature. I live in the foothills and running around, the carb ran rich. Drive south to the coast at the "Gulf of Mexico" and our hot rod Mustangs would get up and go. They didn't smell rich either.
In this example, the altitude was the change made to the engine package!
I'm currently keeping a close eye on my AFR readings. Word is, Walmart is going to be bringing in E15 eth/gasoline. That is going to make me have to make a change in my tune for my EFI 5.0.

E15 is only about 3% difference in fuel trim. If running stock ECU the LTFT should be able to cover the difference.

I swap between 87 octane E10 and 88 octane E15 in my LS Volvo, the fuel trim difference is from experience not hearsay.

From my experience, yes. I watch my STFT on each bank and LTFT overall. The difference is minimal. WOT open loop is .1-.2 AFR.

I'm kind of new with the wideband o2/afr kit, mine is setup showing the numerical values. Soon I need to set it up the + or -1 way.
My cold OL is moving around the 14.3 reading. I thought it would be richer cold. But in moderate temperature, I guess the 'ole 5.0 starts warming up pretty quick.

I’m putting the top end back together.
Upon removal of the lower intake I noticed the gaskets are hanging inside the ported creating bump to the airflow. The instructions on the Felpro gaskets say to stick the gaskets and to trim the gasket hanging inside of the port with a sharp knife.Unfortunately this might apply for the regular 1250 intake gasket but do not apply to the 1250S-3 which has steel laminate here and it is impossible. I’ll post a pic from the head’s mating surface and the upper intake side. It is not that much but still not a smooth transition and I don’t know how much it affects the airflow.

It is not just Walmart, Everyone is going to E15. It is Federally mandated.

A 1250 is 1.20” x 2.00” where a 1262 is 1.28” x 2.10”. Any chance the bigger gasket will work?

It’s not a mandate and is not going to be permanent. It’s the EPA’s temporary solution to help with gasoline stocks through the summer due to the Iran issue. Lots of fake news and drama headlines to grab readers attention.

There's a bright side to the E15.

Ethanol is the best fuel system cleaner/combustion chamber cleaner I've seen. Removes deposits and carbon like no other.

There is also the fuel mileage issue. It's like E-85 in that it is cheaper but it takes twice as much E-85 as it does gasoline being E-85 is basically alcohol. I run a tank or two of E-85 in my tuned F150 and it runs amazing but I get about 250 miles on 30 gallons vs the 500 on E-10.

E-15 is just a band aid for a possible "shortage" of gasoline for the summer months if the Iran issue continues. It's basically displacing another 5% of the gasoline per gallon with ethanol to stretch the supply.

Remember that ethanol is corrosive and if you run E-85 jelling can be an issue. Not so much for E-15 or E-10 but just wanted to point that out.

The mileage on your F-150 is crazy. My Flex fuel Ranger will average about 22mpg highway on E10 gas and 19-20mpg highway on E85. Mixed driving is about 15% lower mpg. It does run ALOT better on corn.

I ran E85 in my ATV for nearly 20 years with all stock fuel system components. After 20 years of E85 nothing had to be replaced, all fuel system components were still in great shape. 2000 model year ATV. No additives were ever used.

I ran e85 in my 2016 f150 5.0 a few times. it definitely robs miles per gallon. It's cheaper per gallon but in the end I think reggie gas ends up being cheaper when considering miles per tank.

I run ethanol free 91 in my fox.

I've found that the 1st tank of E85 has the worst mileage, it improves after that. If it's just one and done, then the results will be subpar.

My fox sees nothing but E10 gasoline, 89 or better. I accidentally filled it up with Non-oxy one time. Got the worst mileage I've ever got in that car in the 25 years and 180k+ miles I've owned it. Never again.
