OK heres the deal, i got my motor out right now so i could put new valve seals, clutch, flywheel, headers, and some other stuff on my motor...i baught a set of FRPP shorties from a friend who has a cap on the EGR tube thread on the driver side header, he said i should just pull all my EGR stuff out and put a flat plate where the EGR valve was that it would be better for me, i didnt wanna do that but when i was taken the old stock manifolds off the EGR tube twisted and now need sot be replaced and im short cahs right now, so does any know what would happen if i got rid of my EGR and DPFE system? what should i do? oh yeah and i got a centerforce dual friction and billet steel flywheel, but the fly wheel has now dowl or pins to put the pressure plate on, does it need those or can i just bolt the press plate on real good?

thanks,
ryan

You can ditch the EGR system, but it will trigger the Check Engine Light unless you have a chip programmed to turn it off..

No, it will run fine without it.

Your car will run fine without EGR (mine actually runs a lot better without it), but peak combustion temperatures and oxides of nitrogen emissions will be higher. With your stock Powertrain computer, EGR only functions at part throttle; it is inhibited at idle and full throttle. As oohsoobad2 pointed out, removing the EGR system will eventually trigger fault codes and turn on the malfunction indicator light.

so since the header is already capped off all i need to do now is fab up a peice of metal to block the egr valve port ont he plenum... and now the DPFE sensor which solely runs off the egr tube, is no obsolete so i can lose that now too.........oh yeah and is it true you can run your car with out vaccum lines?
