So i get a fan out of a mark VIII. I have blue black and black wires comming out of it.I hooked the blue and one black one up and it started smoking. So i hook up the 2 black ones and the fan is PUSHING threw the radiator,if i switch them it turns slower and then blows the fuse. Are these fans pushers and not pullers? Why would it not work and start smoking when i hooked uo the one blue and one of the black ones?peace

So it has 2 grounds?I hooked it up to a battery to test it before i installed it.Blue to + and black to - it did nothing, thenswapped the 2 and it started smoking. I hooked up the blacks to +and- and it worked fine, then i swapped the 2 blacks and it still worked fine. But when i hook it up in my car with the blacks only it spins like a mad man pushing the air,and then i reverse the 2 black wires and it spins slow then blows the fuse.peace

Are you sure your polarity is correct?

From the way it looks,i have to have it the correct way?Like i said above,if i swap the 2 black wires i have hooked up now it blows my fuse within 20 sec.I'm ONLY using the black wires NOT the blue and 1 of the blacks.peace

If the fan motor spins backwards, the polarity almost has to be reversed. Now the fan motor might be seizing or have other issues (the reason for blowing the fuse). You're using slow-burn fuses of the correct rating?

So what was the solution? Was the polarity reversed? Why was it blowing the fuse? A 30 amp fuse is of a very low rating for a Mark VIII fan's considerable start-up draw.
