I'm not using a controller for my fan, but my 12v source for my 75a relay is the low coolant sensor wire. I think its red, but its been a while that i looked.
ok fan is all installed and runs killer.. its one of those new Black magic extremes' pulls 3300 cfm @ 18 amps, this fan is sweet!
anyways my last question, what temp do i want the sensor set at? I have a 180 degree thermostat and the engine is stock cept for pullies/exhaust ect.. do i want to set the fan control to 180 degrees as well?
If you have the fan set to 180* (I assume you mean to use 180 as a turn-on temp), then the fan will pretty much run constantly during the summer. Not what I would want.
I would set it so that you actually (and by actual I mean create this situation dynamically with your own instrumentation - some/many adjustable controllers on/off rheostats are very inacccurate) it turns the fan on at ~195*F and turns it off at 187*. That way the stat has a chance to open and try to cool before the fan comes on. The actual temp at which your stat opens depends upon the stat used (Balanced stats open more reliably).
