I've been helping a friend swap a carb'd 351W into his 1989 mustang. This was originally a mass air car, I got the EFI stuff as payment.... . I checked out Jason Fletchers site, which helped me solve the spark problem, but I'm now having a problem with the turn signal lights and the brake dummy lights are staying on in the instrument gauges when the headlights are turned on. I just read the website today and haven't had a chance to jumper the two connectors on the harness by the brake booster, nor did I remove the EEC power relay, could this be causing the problem? I also noticed that the parking lights stay on when the ignition is turned off, and the headlight switch is off. When I jiggled the starter solenoid they would flicker on and off.. Any ideas

sounds like you man need to take the instrument cluster out, and clean all the contacts on the back of it. As well as your turn signals, etc etc. Good luck, its not a horrible job but it all that fun either, but when you get it all back together you'll be glad. The only other thing I would do is check all the connectors under dash, steering column.
good luck
Ben

I'm just wonedering why that would be the case since it never had this problem till we pulled the efi harness for the swap? As far as I knew the headlights and other schtuff was completley separate from the EEC crap. Thanks for the suggestion though, I will give it a try.

here is another thought. on your solonoid there is about 4 wires on one side they control your power windows etc. not sure what all is on that but if those 4 wires were left unconnected or on the wrong side, or if one was used as a ground when you put it back that could cause you problems.....not sure its related to what you have but you could check just to make sure.
good luck
Ben
