Electrical Problems?

I have a couple of problems that I think somehow must be connected.

For over a year now, the car has been eating up brand new sparkplugs after just a couple of thousand miles. I'm not sure what's doing it. I've replaced the plugs (many times), the wires (twice) and the coil packs.

Then on Saturday the weirdest thing happened. At or near idle, the tach would "freak out" (bouncing all over the place or drop to 0 without the car stalling), the ABS light would come on everytime I hit the breaks and go off when I let off of them, and the amp gauge would go all the way down. I knew the alternator needed to go, and because of past cars, I assumed this was the problem. I changed the alternator and all went well until today on the way home, it did it again (it Atlanta rush hour traffic no less).

It was also discovered that the belt had been chewed up. But the belt was not brand new. There has also been a growing problem with exceleration. Something seems to be bogging the car down badley off the line or durring exceleration, today it was the worst ever.

I'm stummped and getting very concerned. Also, my "assumptions" are becoming costly. Has anyone ever seen this, or does anyone know what the heck is happening?

I would GREATLY apprecite the feedback!! Thank you!

My opinion:bad crank position sensor. If it's not working right, the timing will be out of whack, making the coils and plugs have to work harder to fire the engine and causing the loss of power. It's probably not out like more than 10-15 degress but it's enough to mess things up.

That's one of the things that I was afraid of. I took it to Modular Power House to see if they had any ideas, and even they seemed kinda stumped. I am afraid that I might be causing major damage by continuing to drive the car, but I don't have much of a choice.
