my cd player and overhead light stopped working yesterday. the car had been out in the rain all night because i had no garage to park it in, so it leaked a little. I checked the fuses and found a blown fuse but if i put a new fuse in it just blows right away. What should I do to find the short? Anyone know where the wiring for the cd player runs?

Year of car is always helpful. The wiring colors changed a bit over the years and the 94+ cars are completely different.

What fuse blew?

Good luck.

P.S. I'd PM a moderator and see if they can move your thread to 5.0 Tech - it will get a lot more traffic over there. This thread best fits that sub-forum anyhow.

Good luck.

oops, guess the year would probably help. 91 gt. if your looking at the fuse box cover with the diagram on it, the fuse that blew is in the top row second from the left.

Ruh Roh. If I read ya correctly, in my car (an '88 GT vert), the fuse in that position doesn't do anything.

In any case, if the car is drying out, the issue might go away. Otherwise, I'd disconnect parts of that fused circuit (that's why I wondered which fuse it was). Then install a fuse and start reconnecting items one at a time (i.e. plug the electrical connector for the overhead light in, then if ok, plug the radio harness back in, etc etc). At some point, something should blow the fuse as soon as it's plugged in - that's a circuit to thoroughly examine.

Good luck.
