ok, not stang related but its my daily driver. gonna take a second to explain this

89 tempo electric fan, now it won't turn on an will over heat, now i got a new fan that works, if directly connect it to the battery it spins freely, now there are 2 wires going to the fan one is a 12 volt feed that is is activated by a sensor the other is ground, now i get 12 volts off the one wire that should be 12 volts and the ground wire shows no resistance when i check it with my mulitmeter, meaning its is making contact with ground. that sounds perfect but when i hook it up to the fan nothing happens but when i take the positive wire off of the fan and jump a wire from that terminal to the positive terminal on the battery the fan fires up

what gives? i mean i have 12 volts goin to the fan but it won't turn on, but it will turn on if i jump a wire from the battery to the positive terminal on the fan

any ideas? i'm stumped, it doesn't make sence cause i have power whrere i should but nothing will turn on.

Autozone wiring diagrams: http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiB..._us/0900823d/80/12/79/e5/0900823d801279e5.jsp

The following is for a car without A/C

1.) Check the fusible link to make sure it delivers power to the relay.
2.) Jumper the cooling fan temp switch to make sure the relay energizes
3.) Check the cooling fan relay for proper operation. You should see 12 volts on the fan side when you jumper the cooling fan temp switch.

ok i just figured it out

stupid ****in thing, i read in my dads taurus haynes book how to test the sensor, turns out when the sensor opens it is at 0 ohms, so i took the plug off the sensor and jumped a wire between the two connectors on the plug, and i could hear the relay clicking, so i hit the damn relay with a pair of plyers and the fan fired up.

this is why i hate electrical, if the stang ever did that i would be converted to carb so fast

thanks for that diagram, i'm gonna use that to make sure everythingis right cause the previous owner has some hacked up wires in those circuts
