This sounds like a separate issue.

Have you pulled codes?

Something like this will get you there: https://www.amazon.com/ZM201-Profes...nced-Vehicles/dp/B0C2V3RYLY/ref=sr_1_9?sr=8-9

When the ground cable was hooked up to the casing of the alternator it acted like it caused a short, and at the moment there is not a check engine light

You still need to pull codes. The trouble light doesn't illuminate for all codes.

Do you have the means to remove the alternator and have it tested at a nearby auto-parts store?

On a parallel note: What kind of shape is the battery in?

I'll leave this here too. I'm certain we have one for this section but I can't find it>

I know my Autozone lets you borrow an ODB-1 tester, maybe try that?

Ok so atm the only thing it's doing is blowing the fuel pump fuse (1998 so the fuse may be mislabeled)

Sounds like you have a short somewhere. Do you have access to some wiring diagrams? You are gonna need to do some digging

I found some diagrams and apparently the fuel pump fuse and the eec fuse were mislabeled so I'm gonna start by checking the O2 sensors

Hi, does the fuse blow instantly when you turn the key on? Does the fuse last for a while? a few starts, a few days, a week or more? Do you live where rodents are an issue under the hood, eating wiring and such? Is the fuse socket in the box corroded? Was the first fuse that blew, corroded? Do you have an electrical meter? Have you run out of gas in the last 6 mos. to a year? Do you know how old the pump is? I know that's a lot of questions but you can start at the connector to the pump at the back of the car look for power & ground, if the fuse will hold long enough. I know there are others on the forum with better answers than mine but I thought I'd give it a go here.

@The special Medic - I've merged your 2 threads since they were both the same basic topic and both had the same title.

I think, it's one of the 2 because I've seen some say it was mislabeled but it's marked as the fuel pump fuse in the manual so idk

Thanks for the help, as of Thanksgiving week I was able to solve the issue, a wire running to the coil pack was frayed and was shorting to the hood
