Anybody know why this happened? It just started happening recently. At first it happened when I stepped hard on the brake, now it happens whenever I step on them. Any reason to this?

Check your brake fluid....I bet it's low.

Or your brake rotors are wearing thin.

It's the fluid most likely. At the base of the resivoir there's a little sensor that crys to the computer when it starts to go dry. That "E-brake light" also serves as a check engine light for the brakes.

While you're at it, I'd look around for any leaks in the brake system.

Make sure someone didint open the bleeders. We had the same problem in my moms taurus. One bleeder somehow opened up and was leaking all the fluid. Luckily we got it on time.

No puddles under the car, and the pedal is catching the brake as usual, so I figure that part is okay.. I'll take a look when I get home from work.
