Just had a talk with a DOL official and he told me that the department will be requiring people to show their drivers license to prove residence when purchasing tabs. Cars must be registered at the same address as that residence. This will reenstate the protocols that were begun and then stopped last year. He couldn't remember the exact month when these policies will begin again, but he said it would be early in the next calendar year. You have the option of signing an affidavit saying that you live at an address other than the one your license specifies (He said only King county would check on the validity of the affidavit). He also told me that there was a good chance he'd be losing his job with the likely Rossi victory and that he had no idea what the policy of the new adiministration would be on this issue. This is all motivated by the projected revenue shortfall of 1.7% for construction of the monorail. It's only King County pushing this issue, but that is enough. So those PO box numbers being used to get around emissions will soon become more difficult to use.

so are you saying that if i registure my car to a P.O box i dont have yo go threw emisions? even here in clark county? peace

This could be a problem for me, I registered at my sisters PO box in Stanwood for years and this year I had to give them her real address as POs don't work anymore. If they tighten it up again I may have to pull out my big cam and go back to the sniffer.
Stock50LX, do you still have the tires available?

Yes, I have the tires.

Regarding the licensing issue: It is my understanding that you need to spend up to $150. in an attempt to get your car to pass emissions, and all the original smog equipment must be installed. It's that second part that is the problem. Can you verify these facts to be correct?

Emissions requirements are based on county, and even more specifically, the zip code within the county. The idea is that you register the car in an area with no emissions test requirement by using a rented PO box with an address in that emissions free area. Any address in the entire Olympic Peninsula will do, since that area has no emissions requirements.

A PO doesn't work any more but if you have an address out of the area that's ok. This year they didn't care that my drivers licence address was different but that could change in the future.
Can you give me some more info on the tires?

The acceptance of that alternate address will be withdrawn next year, unless the new administration changes the policy. They just need a picture ID now, they don't care about your address at all.

The 275's are 10 inches of rubber on the ground (each). They are the stock 26 inches tall so they won't change your final drive ratio. I used them for the beginning of last season. They have many many passes left on them. There is still significant tread depth left so you can drive them on the street if you choose. They drive just like regular radials. I ran a best 1.56 60ft with them. The price would be half the price of a new pair ($150.). I also have a narrower set of 235's, that have much more wear. They would be priced appropriately less.
