I'm just looking for some opinions. When I did my v8 swap I left out all the emissions stuff cause everyone I talked to said it was such a huge power robber. I'm kinda doubting it now and wish I put all that stuff on. I figured with the V8 in there rather than the 2.3 it'll never pass emissions tests anyway and I only have to go one more time till I'm exempt.

So next question... did anyone take that stuff off and looking to get rid of it??

Ok, maybe 1/2HP with the smog pump.

Scientific wild card guess: cats. depending on their condition, may soak up 5-15 HP. New clean cats are on the low end of that HP range and the older coked up ones at the high end.

alright I don't think I'd mind the slight loss. Anyone try the the so called "high flow" cats that magnaflow and flowmaster make? My brother put a flowmaster one on his truck, they gave him a hard time about it but it passed and they let it go..

Eh not much hp loss, but would I go out of my way to put it all back on? Probably not, unless you were trying to pass emissions.

If I knew for sure I'd be able to pass with it on I'd put it all on right away but the car's supposed to be a 4 cyl so I don't think she'd pass anyway, esp with the top end stuff I got on it

If someone wants to give me the stuff for free or cheap I'd do it but I'm broke as hell now and still gotta figure out why its burning oil so bad. I'd have to pull the drivers side head too, there is a bolt broken off in the back where that tube thing is supposed to go

You're sure its burning oil and not leaking? How many miles on the engine? Could be leaky valve stem seals (best case scenario) or worn piston rings (worst case). Do you need the EGR stuff to pass emissions? I am not sure, I am in Florida so I've never had to pass emissions.

Wow that must be nice! I don't know if they look at it or just hook it up.
The motor has about 200 miles on it I had it appart about 150 miles ago to swap the cam and a stuck lifter. I know its not leaking cause I park it in the garage and the only puddle is tranny fluid

Oh and it smokes pretty good on startup. I don't know if its oil or gas though. I don't know if no cats makes it do that at all. and I can't tell what color it is for sure cause I'm colorblind
