Balanced crank

Everything is balanced

rod caps with material removed

Pistons were removed from rods and individually balanced

Lucky #7 was the lightest piston

Material was removed from each end of the crank to finally balance entire rotating assembly with balancer and flywheel included

Rod bearing clearance

King race bearings instead of being beveled towards the crank side are cut narrower instead. Doesn't look right, but it is!

I torqued rod bolts with in/lb wrench - 240in/lb

Very nice. I hope you had it balanced as an assembled unit....including the balancer and the flywheel. This is really the best way to do it.

Yes, rods and Pistons individually then everything as a rotating assembly. Dude is a serious old schooler. Race balanced down to a gram or less. It's what he showed me and said.

Very good. Should run smooth as silk. I'll assume the clutch was included in that balance as well?

Only reason I ask, is because I'm likely going to have to pull and tear my 331 down over this winter and have it rebalanced because I suspect Coast High Performance didn't perform these steps during their "free" balance that was included in the price of my rotating assembly. Got a seriously noticeable engine vibration at around 1,500RPM in neutral that drives me nuts.

I'm already pushing the limits of the stuck block with the amount of power I'm putting through it and don't want an unnecessary vibration in the rotating assembly to be the nail in the coffin.

Figured I'd save someone else the headache I'm going through. It would suck to have to tear yours down, but it would suck even more to have to do it after it's been in the car, full of fluids and running already.

Clutch and pressure plate was not included. He didn't mention it as a concern and neither did the guy who referred him. Clutch and pressure plate should be individually balanced in their manufacturing process.

Although, my flywheel was missing one of the three alignment pins for the pressure plate. Has been missing all along. The guy said he balanced as is with two pins and told me not to replace the missing one. If he's telling not to install that missing pin or it will throw off his balance, he must be doing serious tight work.
