Im looking to build a new motor for my 93 coupe. I found a block from an early 80s's 5.0. Would this block work? Or is there a difference? Im going to try to build a 347
that is a NON roller block........if you are going to go with a non roller block you should try to find an earlier model one that has a little bit beefier mains and higher nickel content, like a mexican block. Otherwise find a latemodel block (86-93)
302 blocks that are pre-1982 have different coolant passages under the heads they can be drilled and used. 1983 and Later blocks are direct replacements so long as you take the roller vs. non-roller into account and purchase the correct lifters and cam.
