I know Eastwood has them for Ford V-8s, has anyone seen them for the I-6s?
I'm preparing to paint my engine and it would save me time if I didn't have to make my own block off kit.

If you mean patterns that cover the engine's ports and other holes, I think you are out of luck.

I bought a whole roll of engine block off when I painted my engine. 3M markets it under the trade name of "Masking Tape". Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Isn't that like a hoist or something? Y'know, like when you wanna rebuild your mill; but it's too confined in that li'l ol' space under the hood, so you disconnect everything, take the mount bolts out and use the hoist to take the engine block off the rest of the car?

Oh, wait a minute, now I get it ..... Ya, I think I'd just use masking tape; like I did with the Torino's Cleveland and my F100's FE-block FrankenLincoln 406

Hang on there just a minute, Big Guy - you're the one who posted asking which Performance Shop might be a good source for masking tape!!!

BTW.....I got myself some of that 3M generic block off kit, That stuff is GREAT! It comes in different sizes, it's on rolls, (I'm using the 2") you just pull off what you need, apply it and the excess is easy to trim away!

More progress........

This morning I transfered my engine from the dolly onto the work stand to finish prep work and paint. For those who have to ask, "How did he do that in a basement with lo-overhead and no hoist?"........I picked up the engine in one hand and slapped the stand onto it's ass-end with the other! and YES! I CAN, after all I am a BIG BLUE FUZZY CLOSET MONSTER!

Anyway back to topic...........Notice on the picture below, the 3M Generic Engine Block Off Kit....the 710 cap makes a perfect dispenser / holder for the kit as I work!

That is one ugly motor! Looks like somebody tried to paint it black while it was in the car, but passed out under the hood from the fumes when he was half done!

Actually all the black you see on the side of the block, esp. towards the rear is from a couple of leaky exhaust manifold gaskets.......amnit:
But you can also see why I want to clean and repaint it before I drop her back in to my nice clean engine compartment!
When I'm done it will also be the "correct" color for a '65 I-6....Ford red!
(as seen in this 1984 photo.......)

That was the oil leaking from the valve cover gasket!

BFCM- Why would you want to block off your engine? Did you just realize someone misplaced those 2 extra cylinders ? Are you planning to put a couple hampsters and a wheel in there instead? Or are you planning to pull a Fred Flintsone? But even the I6 is marginally better than those options?
