Does anybody know where's the 99-04 4.6L SOHC engine block VIN # located?

Are you talking about the block part number? It should be on the side. This is a picture from a 4.6l teksid block I have sitting in my garage. The part number in on the drivers side under that first freeze plug (center in the picture.)

No, not the casting number but thanks for the info. The one I'm looking for is the vehicle identification number. I'm about to buy a 2000 GT and the seller said the car has a 2004 GT motor in it. He doesn't has the receipt for the motor and therefore I don't know if it's true or not. The only way to find out is to look for the VIN that stamped on the block. I know the old 5.0 motor has the last 8 digits of the VIN stamped on flat surface on the back of the motor right below the lower intake area. Not sure about the 4.6L block.

They no longer stamp any part of the VIN on/in motors.

Since the 1999-2000 GT came from the factory with a Windsor moter, if the current motor is a Romeo, then you will know it was swapped.

If the oil fill tube is on the drivers side cam cover it's a romeo block (will also have 11 bolts on the cam cover). If the oil fill tube is on the passenger side it's a windsor block (will have 13 cam cover bolts).

Windsors were used in '99-'00, while Romeo's were used in 96-98's and in the 01-04's

That's a relatively quick way to tell if he's telling the truth, cause if it isn't a romeo he didn't install an '04 Mustang engine

Ford does not put VINs on engine blocks or transmissions. Which is why when people say their classic is numbers matching they are talking out of their poop shoot. The most there will be is there might be a barcode with build date on one of the valve covers and it may have a VIN.

Yep, I'm not 100% sure on older Chevy stuff but we have Mopar and those are some of the only true numbers matching cars out there.
