a couple weeks ago i took off my waterpump to fix a leak and one of the bolts broke that go through the timing chain cover and into the block. so i striped the front down and took the cover off, got the bolt out with some help, then while it was off i replaced the harmonic balancer, and the timing chain. this was the first time id replaced one before but i was told how to do it and how to line it back up. so i got everything back together and now there is a bad knock on the drivers side. I was very careful about putting the chain back on and making sure the dots went back in the same place as they were before i took them off. i had to let it sit for a while cause i had to much goin on to have time to work on it, so i go out last night to listen to it again and try to find out if it was just a really bad exhast leak since i just put new headers on a week before the timing chain. i got to start it and now it wont idle, it dies after about 5 seconds. my roommate listened while i turned it over and he swears its not an exhaust leak. so now i have a car that wont idle and seems to be knocking. how could this have happened? one idea is that when i was taking the timing cover off a piece of gasket feel into the opening of the oil pan and is getting sucked up, blocking an oil passage. any other ideas?? man this sucks
