ok, i just had a new engine installed in my 98GT. it's supposed to be from a 2001GT so i'm just going to assume it is. I just got it back yesterday and it's making a "popping" noise. From what i've read it sounds as if the spark plugs are wet or something like that. So if they are, then how do i dry them, and how easy is it??? or can i just let them dry themself out???? and if it's not that, then does anyone know what it might be????? thank you for your help!!!

edit--oh, and if it is the spark plugs, will it hurt the engine to drive it like this???

I think you should take it back to whoever installed the motor. But if you want, pull the sparkplug boots off [one at a time] and look down the hole to see if there is any antifreeze down there. If there is, suck it out with a shop vac. Also they may have mixed up the plug wires, it wouldnt hurt to check if they are on right.
Edit:Oh, I wouldnt drive it like that.

If it's an 01, it doesn't have plug wires...COPS.
Regardless, take it back.

Correct, but in order to swap motors they would switch over the coil packs as well as the fuel rails from the non pi engine, otherwise to use the COPS system the entire wiring harness and EEC processor would have to be swapped out from the donner car.

Call whoever did the swap, tell them what it's doing and that you are afraid to drive it. If they want you to drive it back to the shop and something happens, they won't be able to point any fingers at you. I doubt if it would harm the engine to drive it back to the shop, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
