Okay, I've got my final details down as to how my rebuilds gonna go. I'm gonna do the super six 4.2 swap, .030 over ($1700...wow!!!) and the split port swap with the windstar upper. I think I've got a pretty good parts list (Split-Port Swap - 3.8Wiki) but they left out some details.
Steeda has some injectors with the old style plug (Ford Racing Fuel Injectors for Ford Mustang) I don't plan on boosting it, but with the other mods (cam swap, true dual exhaust, headers, pulley kit) should I go with the 24's? What wiring issues am I looking at? And the fuel rail? All the posts I'm seeing are for swapping a whole motor, I just want to rebuild mine.
With the 4.2 kit, I'm getting a lot of complicated info about balancer, pulley, flywheel (I have a 5speed) and I think water pump was in there. Whats the best layout? The cars a 1996 but the motor has been changed once. Until further notice, I'm assuming its a 1996 block, I'll find out more when I move into the new place and start the teardown.
Any other info that may help, or anyone around the La Crosse, WI area that can swing by a point a few things out would be great!! Thanx in advace...

well, i had one guy say just swap in a new 4.2 motor. Only prob with that, is only an idiot would just take motor out of something else and put it in their car... If I got a junk yard motor I'd want to rebuild it anyway. so, if my block is good, I'd rather just rebuild that. The questions I now have, cause I'm finding out I can reuse almost everything blockwise, is with the split port/windstar intake conversion. I read that the throttle cable from a 96 won't work on a split port, but if I do the windstar intake it moves the TB anyway, is it still an issue then? Does anyone know if anyone is still making the fuel rail adaptors? Would it be easier to just change the fuel lines and pump to the newer system as opposed to modifing the fuel rail? And the injectors, if I can get the 24lb with the EV1 connector, what would I still have to modify on the fuel rail? I'm really liking the idea of a 400-500hp V6, so I want the built lower end, and I know there's people here who've done these swaps, just trying to get a little direction, that's all. Thanx to those trying to help, but I'm kinda stubborn about my cars lol, that's why I put my 428 small block in an 87 ranger , too many people said I couldn't do it. My other project is a twin turbo LS6 in a 79 full size C-10. But I'm Ford first and foremost, so I'm pushing this Mustang ahead.

FWIIW, I have read your posts. I didn't reply because I don't have any direct experience to offer. And to be honest, not sure about the basic plan. Reaching 500HP in a street driven NA 4.2 liter V6. All I can say is WOW.

It seems like to me that you already have all of your questions answered except for a throttle cable. I would think that anyone able to do the engine swap can also figure out how to fab a throttle cable. Even if you have to get a Lokar universal cable.

Amazon.com: Lokar TC1000U Universal Throttle Cable: Automotive

Here's some more information on the V6 intake swap.

Good luck on your project. Let's see some pictures of the progress.
