Just because the bolts don't tighten doesn't mean you didn't blow the gasket out.My gas pedal got stuck under my mat and it revved all the the way up for a couple seconds. Now it run and drives as normal but there is a ticking sound from the engine. It sounds like the passenger side closest to the firewall. I dont know what it is. I tried to tighten the header bolts but they weren't loose. I think its a valve spring or a push rod?
Holy crap. I thought I was the only person to use weird methods to locate noises. I use pieces of hose against my ear. The noise gets funneled and amplified along the way up to your ear lolTake a wooden handle - like one from a plunger and one end to your ear the other end along valve cover on that side. See if you can isolate where the noise is coming from. Pour a few ounces of MMO in and see if the tick goes away in a few hundred miles. Sounds like a lifter may have bottomed out or stuck.
