Hey everyone, I would really like to know what would be best for a 1995 Mustang gt auto. Would it be the equal lenth short headers or equal lenth long headers. Also why

Longtube headers are the ticket. They're so much quieter while cruising and make more power everywhere in the powerband.

The downside to them is that they are a PITA to put on if the car has the cylinder heads still bolted to the block. It's very possible, but very frustrating and very time consuming. With LT's you also have the change the midpipe.

What he said ^^^. I have equal length shortys and some what regret not going LT. I'm still happy with them BUT still wish that I had gone lt's for the fact that they make more hp/tq all through out the rpm range.

NEITHER:

1. Good luck trying to do LT's with An AODE!

2. Good luck replacing burned SP wires with equal shorties.

My vote is for unequal shorties.

Joe: Mine are COMPLETELY quiet.

I did the equal length shortys with x-pipe and flows all at the same time. All of my power is now at 3000-5500. Now its like riding my 2stroke 250 dirtbike(power is on or off). I got those plug boot condoms to keep the wires from burning up.

I will have to say the car sounds unreal with the equal lengths compaired with my freinds long tubes.(must have something to do with the exhaust pulses not colliding?)

A friend did the long tubes and has problems getting over speed bumps.

Both are a PAIN IN THE ASS to install. Jack up engine for one side and disconnect steering shaft for the other.

I would do unequal shortys if I did it again.

Well thanks everyone. Looks as if I have to do some more reading on this. Also 94GTLaserRC is this a problem with burned wires on shorties? Also whats good about unequal shorties? I have to ask my car is stock. I was unable to do any mods due to a Ford Shop around here wanted to void my warranty for ever thing even a K&N filter. Now I am trying to pay to have everything fixed that they could not fixed when I took it in for warranty work. Hell they dont even sale ford mototsport parts or the book.......lol thats funny

It seems that some have problems and some don't. I have absolutely no problems with burned spark plug wires and I have equal length shorty headers. However, I have read about some that do, too.

Specifically, the problem, if it occurs, is since the tubes are equal length, there are a lot of curves and bends in the pipes to make them turn out "equal" in length. THis "clutters" the area where the spark plug wires are. If the wires move and touch the headers, they will burn (which is unlike in the more "roomy" unequals) I havent seen actual dyno numbers comparing the 2, but I cant believe you would get more than 2-3HP more with equals.

LT's are definitely nice, especially with more power mods, but are not common on AODE's.
