Hey guys/gals, I have a prob with my stang right now. My idle is crappy and the car shakes alot when on. The CEL shows error codes P0356 and P1000, according to my buddy's Predator. The car has a very rough idle, and seems to not want to accelerate. There is definitely a different sound from my exhaust--it is not the typical healthy tone I'm used to hearing with my MagnaPacks. I checked the trouble code which reads "Ignition Coil Primary circuit malfunction". What the hell do I do to fix this?

Back in December, I had a similar thing happen, but I replaced the plugs (which were shot) and my fuel pump, and that took care of the problem. I've only put a few thousand miles on the new plugs and pump, could this have anything to do with it? Another thing, I've got a leaky x-pipe that I haven't been able to fix, it leaks at both the manifold and catback. And yes, I have MIL's from pony express performance. HELP PLEASE! Thanks.

I've SEARCHED already, found nothing yet.

Got this from the sticky above..

P0356 Ignition Coil Primary circuit malfunction.
P1000 OBD-II Monitor Testing Incomplete.

What they mean? Couldn't tell you.

Edit: Duh.. You already knew that. Sorry..

Did you replace the plug wires when you changed the plugs? I could be wrong, but I think you are suppose to change the plug wires every 50k miles (maybe less) so if you have more than that on them, that might* be it, but it could be the coil pack itself. I dont think they cost that much to replace.

It doesnt, but you know that. Too bad it didnt just come in as a cyl misfire...those are a pretty easy fix, just replace the coil. Have no idea what the code you got means though.

Edit: MyEarsHurt - Coils can be expensive, depending on what you think is expensive. At the dealer I work at, I have seen the price for 1 coil range from $70 to $140.
