Estimate for some restoration

Anyone have a clue what a fair price would be for having this stuff done?
All fender aprons, both shock towers, all floor pans (floor to firewall to under rear seat on both sides). I already have the parts purchased and the front fenders/bumper/grille is removed. No painting or anything is needed. Just cutting out/re-welding.

Its a 67 Rustang.

I know how to weld but only the basics. Ive heard that its a pain to replace the shock towers...So I would just like to know what kind of dough Im looking at spending so that I can determine if I should try it myself.

Id say probably close to $2500

I take it that the Shock towers must be a pain to change then..

If you can get all that work done for 2500.00 and it is done right!!!!! Let me know where and I will send all my work there.

I also think $2500 is a bit conservative, but not by much. I had a professional Mustang restoration shop do my full floors (I supplied the parts) and it was approximately $1200. Assuming you pull the engine and all front sheet metal, then I'd expect the shocktowers and front aprons to be closer to $1500-$1800 if they still have to disassemble the front suspension.

BTW, look at it this way... If you have a good solid rust free body when this is done, then consider if you could've bought a solid rust free car for the same or less. If you think you can, then drop this project and find that better car up front. It'll probably save you money in the long run. I personally spent $4500 on body/rust repair (not including paint), and since prices have escalated, I'm pretty sure I couldn't have found a rust free '70 Mach for that little, so I guess it was worth it.

I called a professional Mustang resto shop awhile back and they wanted almost $2,000 just to cut the cowl open and patch it! I'd say at a Mustang resto shop to get it done right, your talking closer to $5,000. You might get Jim Bob at a local garage to do it for half that, but will the towers be in alignment..will the floors fall out while you're driving down the road? Get a guarantee that the car can be aligned and stay in alignment before any cutting is done.

Realistically...that type of work with your parts will be $2880 at my shop. Given you ship it to Florida!

Is that with Keith doing the work? If so, then I was damn close with my estimate. Keith did my work and he's damn good at it. I'd recommend him to anyone looking for good legit work.

Yeah, Keith does all my sheetmetal and paint work. You can't beat the craftsmanship he puts into every job. Just last week he finished one of my 65 conv's, with all the sheetmetal work (rails, quarters, floor and torque boxes), wire wheeled the undercarriage, painted it and the interior with rust proof paint, then laid down a base coat/clear coat silver blue paint job...all for under $6000. I start putting her back together next week.

I wouldn't call any of it cheap, but Keith is damn reasonable. And he's done work on cars that have appeared in Mustang Monthly and Mustang & Fords and have racked up MCA points and awards. Folks do ship cars there from other parts of the country, so it might be worth it if you need that kind of work and your local places are giving you insane quotes.

Thanks DB, I have a backlog already. But the point ...it's all relative. Cost of living in one place is relative to another, many factors dictate the disparity. But heck, if you ship your car down for a restoration, I'll do it right. I have two guys in CA and one in NE shipping theirs over the next two weeks. There's a lot to be said for the savings a $725 car hauler can do for the bottom line on a quality restoration.
