just got some work on my xpipe and since then I noticed a little puddle of something oily underneath the car. I don't think it comes ffrom the engine since it's not brown but looks like water (except it's oily). Could it be an exhaust leak or gasket from the transmission ?

Mine has a small drip of water that comes from the x and
I can hear water when I shut the door. phisssssss
I think its just condensation
Condensation leaks from around the band clamp.

exactly :nice:

as for the exhaust leak, get under the car & look for a area of black "smoot". that's exhaust escaping from places it shouldn't & should be your problem area :nice: , but if it's oily & leaking it's not a exhaust leak.

out of curiousity have you put a new shifter on recently??????

ok..I 'm leaning toward a transmission gasket leak then...most liekly between engine and transmission...anyone knows how much it will cost ? and no I don't have any aftermarket shifter...gotta put the car on the ramps tomorrow

i'm leaning towards tranny fluid too :( i had a similar problem a month ago. ford replaced my tranny & the "oily fluid" was tranny fluid, where they didn't seal the tranny up correctly at the shifter :notnice: that's why i asked about the new shifter. good luck finding it tomorrow :nice:

There isn't any fluid betwen the engine and transmission. It could possibly be a rear main seal or a transmission output seal. . .you should be able to tell the difference between th fluids-tranny fluid has a red tint to it. The rear main is pretty easy to replace, it's just a lot of tedious work like removing the transmission. A buddy and I did his 98GT's rear seal and a clutch in about 6 hours.
