Exhaust Leak

Has anybody had an issue with the stock exhaust leaking? (car is an '03) Right now I can hear an exhaust leak somewhere around the stock manifolds and midpipe. I checked all of my plugs yesterday to make sure one of them doesn't blow out of the head! They were all fine. Have not had a chance to get the car in the air yet to check the exhaust, and was wondering if there was a specific "problem spot" with them. Which side manifold does not use a gasket? Could that be the problem?

dont know for sure, wish I could tell ya cause I have been having the same problem for a while now. Checked all my connections, couldnt find much of anything major, but still weird noises. Worst part is i cant exactly describe what kind of noise it is (pingy, ticky, knocky, etc)

can you do a sound clip of your problem so i can see if it is the same as mine and maybe we can both fix the problem if it is?

Sound happens when the car is under load in lower rpm's. It probably continues through the higher rpm's, but the exhaust sound gets louder masking it. I really think its going to be a maniflod to midpipe issue. It definately sounds like an exhaust tick. It won't make the noise when the engine is revved with the car sitting still, its only under a load. Anybody have any more input on a reason for that?

rightside/passanger has a flat gasket and if you change exhaust and DO NOT use a OEM Ford gasket at that spot, your almost sure to have a leak. now thw leftside/driver is just a ball n' socket joint and NO gasket

hmmmm might be my problem... always sounded to me like it was coming from driver side :( we put my xpipe and takeoffs on at 4 am in the winter time outside in a driveway, so i doubt the guy who took the stock y-pipe loose even noticed any kind of gasket. im gonna have to go home and look and see if there is one now. thanks man :)

btw, good luck to the original poster in finding and fixing the problem.

Thanks Shamdoodle. I'll have the car up on a friend's lift in 2 weeks to do pretty much an entire suspension swap, I'm going to take a look at it then. Maybe even buy a new x pipe for then as well......
