Hey guys I'm new to the forum and just bought a 1999 Mustang Convt and I have a question. The car has been modified by the previous owner and it runs great, but it is extreamly loud. It has headers and flowmasters with no cats. My question is where is a good place (in Alabama area) to have some cats put on it (the exhaust also stinks too!) and will that quite it down some?
Thanks,
D

Alabama is pretty big, can you narrow down your location please?

Sorry about the slow response, but I've had too much going on lately. Thanks for the replies too! I'm in B'ham near Hoover. I sent an email to the mustang club and they said there was a really good place in Odenville that could help me out, but I'm always open to other suggestions. I don't know about the ses light, but I do know it's not on? I just bought the car and only found out a couple of weeks ago about all of the modifications on it. All I want to do is quiet it down some. The reason I'm thinking about putting the cats back on is the stinch of the exhaust gases. It really gives me a headache, but I like the sound. Any help would be great!
Thanks guys,

U

You will probably save a tremendous amount of money by buying a new H-pipe with cats on it already, and then having the whole thing installed on your car. That makes it a simple bolt on operation with no welding, and any repair shop on earth can handle it. There are either 8 or 10 bolts depending on the brand of H-pipe, and you have to R&R the 4 O2 sensors. It's an hour job in the driveway, or 20 minutes on a lift. If somebody tries to charge more than $100 to install it, walk away.

Since you're in the Hoover area, you may want to give either SpeedSouth or The Exhaust Shop a call. I've heard good things of both places, and I believe both are in Pelham.

if it was mine i would leave it alone with cats you will lose some horse power and alot of good sound . i have a 95 GT without cats with flowmasters i have no problems with exhaust smell or noise. does your exhaust run all the way out the rear of the car, i have seen the same problem on other mustangs where the exhaust is ran and turned down under the car usually at the back of the doors if so the fix would run exhaust out rear of car.let us know where your exhaust stops. but if you just have to have your cats check out link below so far this is a good deal, and it all bolts on, you or any shop can put it on and it also comes with a x-pipe which i highly recomend

I've always been here. This was my forst 'Stang site and I've always been active in the SVT sub forum. Heck I'm around so much they made me an moderator!

I'm doing good, job is good, family's good, and the Cobra sits in the garage 99% of the time scowling at me for not driving it more often! Lately I've been tossing around the idea of sending my blower/Inlet/TB off to Steigemeier for a custom port job. I kind of want to see how much power I can put down while retaining the stock 8 psi pulley.

So what you been up to?
