I don't think the mid pipe really matters. There's a bit of a sound difference between the two, but as far as performance goes, flip a coin. Personally, I would go with an H-Pipe since it is more of a "straight back" mid-pipe (resembles true duals).
It will connect to side exhaust systems since the side exhaust kits are just mufflers and tips that connect to the mid-pipe.
