Okay, Im getting really tired of having to hide my lil o/r H all the time. Today, at random, a NC highway patrolman randomly came up to my car as I was parked at a nearby restaurant and asked me if I had anything illegal done to it, because I have my local mustang shop's decals on my rear side windows. He knew for a fact that I had an o/r H, because he said he had the same exhaust set up. Now he said he wouldnt tell, but he said that some of his partners would lock me up for having my exhaust set up, now that kind of scared the poop out of me. Sooo guys, im ready to get a catted H now. Anyone have any good suggestions on a quality and inexpensive H pipe? Somewhere in the $300 range? HELP!!!!!

The Mustang Tuning catted X is only $270, but with such small cats, I really wonder how well they work. (their site says MILs are recommended)

well you may wanna ask around, but they can't jsut come up to you & do all that stuff, if i'm not mistaken. they would have to get a warrant to do anything of the sort. & they wouldn't go the through the hassle of doing that, unless the had it out for you. i know they can't do that here, so you may wanna check around where you live to see if they can

they do it here, call it "free vehicle safety inspections" if you dont want it then they have probable cause. if you get caught without cats the fine can be up to $10k. if you move here and dont have cats, you need to put on the stock h to get the car registerd.

as far as needing a warrant to look at your car....definatetly not true unless its inside your garage. as far as fining you 10 thousand dollars? wtf thats a little outrageous, in florida I think they give you a ticket to fix your car(like having a blown headlight), and if you get it fixed (stick on your catted pipe) the fine is about 10 dollars, but CA is crazy. The man can pull you over and check your car for cats whenever he wants all he needs is reasonable suspicion(such as a loud noise coming from your exhaust). But most wont do it, I drove a truck for 6 months with straight pipes and never got pulled over. Tell that highway patrol man youll see him in the slammer. If you get pulled over tell the cop a highway patrol man said he had the same setup on his car so you thought it would be legal, or say "catalytic converters? what are those? I bought my car like this"( by the way, they can take you to jail for not wearing your seat belt so dont let his words scare the s*** out of you)

They cannot arrest you for not wearing your seatbelt.

The law consititutes (atleast in texas) that you have to be committing a class b misdemeanor or be driving twice the speedlimit to be arrested for any traffic related or auto related violation.

Now in the state of texas if you are lined up next to a car and both cars take off at the same time that consititutes racing which is now a class b misdemeanor, also if it could be proven that you were wreckless driving (in other words endangering others). Other than that you cannot be arrested.

I agree. If you don't have to pass smog, slap some old gutted cats onto your o/r pipe.
