Could anyone explain exactly what this is or if its beneficial to turn it off? I have a Diablo tuner and have been tweaking my tune to get it right and have just been wondering about this one.

The way it was explained to me was that if the cats got too hot, the PCM would dump fuel to cool it down (burning too lean can overheat exhaust components). Most tunes generally turn this "feature" off.

These cars don't have those, they are mostly for diesels. However I have seem some BMWs that have them.

That statement is true but like I said those cars don't have those sensors.

ummmm

So I went ahead and turned it off. Car sounds fine and might run a little bit better BUT it smells funny. Its almost like an adhesive burning like a sweet smell. Any ideas how that relates to this? Also would it be harmful to my baby?
